Turn a hexadecimal colour, the familiar #FF3617 from brand guides and Figma, into its rgb(255, 54, 23) equivalent. You will need this when adding transparency in CSS with rgba(), when an editing app or spreadsheet asks for the three channels separately, or when documenting brand colours in several formats.
The tool opens with HEX already selected and an example loaded. Clear the value, paste your code with or without the hash, and the RGB result appears highlighted at the top of the table. Press the copy icon on that row and you are done. Below it you get the same colour in HSL, LAB, OKLCH and other formats in case you need them.
The conversion happens in your browser and nothing is sent online. It accepts six-digit codes (#RRGGBB) in upper or lower case. It does not read three-digit shorthand (#F31) or eight-digit hex with an alpha channel (#FF3617CC); in those cases type the full six-digit code first.
Frequently asked questions
How do you convert HEX to RGB by hand?
Split the code into three pairs (FF, 36, 17) and convert each from base 16 to base 10: FF = 255, 36 = 54 and 17 = 23. The result is rgb(255, 54, 23).
Is #ff3617 the same as #FF3617?
Yes. Hex digits are not case-sensitive, so both represent exactly the same colour.
How do I add transparency to a hex colour?
Convert it to RGB and use rgb(255 54 23 / 50%) or rgba(255, 54, 23, 0.5) in CSS. Eight-digit hex also exists but is harder to read.
What about a three-digit code like #F31?
Double each digit to get the long form: #F31 is the same as #FF3311. Type that into the field to get its RGB value.
