About this tool

This calculator converts a gross annual salary in Spain into net pay, which is what reaches your bank account each month. It takes off the two things a Spanish payslip deducts: the employee's Social Security contribution and the IRPF income tax withholding. It shows net pay per month, in 12 or 14 payments, per extra payment and per year.

It uses the 2026 contribution rates set by Order PJC/297/2026 and the Spanish Tax Agency's 2026 withholding algorithm for a standard employment contract under the common regime. The calculation runs in your browser: your salary is not sent anywhere.

How do I use the net salary calculator?

  1. Type your gross annual salary as stated in your contract, including extra payments.
  2. Choose whether you are paid in 14 payments (12 monthly plus 2 extra) or in 12 (with the extras spread across the months).
  3. Choose the type of contract: permanent or temporary.
  4. Select your family situation and, if you have them, how many dependent children under 25 you have and how many are under 3. If you are over 65, type your age.
  5. Read the result: net per month, net per extra payment, net per year, Social Security and IRPF withholding.

How much Social Security comes off a Spanish payslip?

In 2026 employees contribute 4.70 % for common contingencies, 1.55 % for unemployment (1.60 % on a temporary contract), 0.10 % for vocational training and 0.15 % for the Intergenerational Equity Mechanism. That is 6.50 % of the contribution base on a permanent contract and 6.55 % on a temporary one.

The contribution base is the monthly salary including the proportional share of extra payments, capped at €5,101.20 a month. Above that cap a small additional solidarity contribution applies to the excess: the employee pays 0.19 %, 0.21 % or 0.24 % depending on the band. The calculator includes it.

How is IRPF withholding calculated?

Withholding is an advance payment of income tax that your employer deducts every month. To calculate it, Social Security, €2,000 of general expenses and, on low salaries, an employment income reduction are subtracted from the gross salary. The withholding scale (19 %, 24 %, 30 %, 37 %, 45 % and 47 % by band) is applied to what is left, and the amount for the personal and family allowance is subtracted: €5,550 for the taxpayer, plus an amount per child and for age.

There is a threshold below which nothing is withheld: in 2026, €15,876 a year for a single person without children. For example, on €30,000 gross a year, single, no children, permanent contract, Social Security is €1,950 and withholding is 16.42 % (€4,926). Net pay is €23,124 a year: €1,927 a month in 12 payments, or €1,628.50 a month plus two extra payments of €1,791 in 14.

Withholding is not the same as the tax you finally pay

Withholding is a provisional calculation. What you actually pay is settled in the following year's tax return, using your region's scale, your other income and your deductions. If too much was withheld, you get a refund; if too little, you pay the difference.

This calculator does not apply to the Basque Country or Navarre, which have their own regional withholding tables, nor to the special reductions in Ceuta, Melilla or La Palma. It does not cover disability, maintenance payments, pre-2013 mortgage relief or extra allowances your employer may pay. For your own case, check your payslip or ask an adviser.

Frequently asked questions

What is €30,000 gross in net terms in Spain in 2026?

For a single person with no children on a permanent contract, about €23,124 a year: €1,927 a month in 12 payments, or €1,628.50 a month plus two extra payments of €1,791 in 14.

What percentage goes to Social Security?

6.50 % of the contribution base on a permanent contract and 6.55 % on a temporary one, with the base capped at €5,101.20 a month in 2026.

Does being paid in 12 or 14 payments change annual net pay?

No. Annual net pay is the same; only the split changes. With 14 payments each month is lower and you get two extra payments, usually in June and December.

Does it work for the Basque Country or Navarre?

Not for withholding. In the Basque Country and Navarre withholding uses their own regional tables. Social Security contributions are the same.
