About this tool
This tool turns a whole block of text into capital letters in one go. It is handy for signs, table headers, acronyms, poster or social media copy, product codes and form fields that insist on capitals. It follows Unicode rules, so accented letters convert properly: “café”, “Zoë” or “jalapeño” become “CAFÉ”, “ZOË” and “JALAPEÑO”, which some older converters get wrong.
Paste or type your text into the box and press “Convert to uppercase”. The result replaces the text in place and you can grab it with “Copy text”. If you change your mind, Ctrl+Z puts it back. The rest of the scratchpad tools sit underneath — lowercase, sentence case, capitalise words, sort lines, find and replace — in case you need another tweak.
The conversion runs in your browser; the text is never sent to a server, though it is kept in your browser’s local storage until you clear it with the bin button. It works on the whole text at once: if you only want one sentence in capitals, convert it separately and paste it back.
Frequently asked questions
Does it keep accents when converting to uppercase?
Yes. Letters such as é, ñ or ü become É, Ñ and Ü rather than losing their marks.
What happens to numbers and punctuation?
Nothing. Only letters are changed; numbers, emoji and punctuation stay exactly as they were.
Is there a keyboard shortcut for uppercase in Word or Google Docs?
In Word, Shift+F3 cycles through cases; Google Docs has Format › Text › Capitalisation. This tool is quicker when the text isn’t in a document, such as a spreadsheet cell or a CMS field.
Should I write long text in all caps?
For short headings it is fine, but long passages in capitals are harder to read and come across as shouting online. Sentence case usually works better for paragraphs.
