Randomly shuffle the lines of a list, for draws or rotas.
About this tool
Shuffling a list comes in handy more often than you might think: deciding the order of class presentations, setting up a duty rota, splitting people into teams, mixing up quiz questions, picking winners for a giveaway or varying the order of scheduled posts. This tool randomly reorders the lines you paste so that every possible order is equally likely.
Paste your list, one person or option per line, and press “Shuffle lines”. Every click produces a fresh order; if you don’t like it, click again or press Ctrl+Z to get the previous one back. For a prize draw, the first lines of the result are your winners. Run “Remove duplicates” and “Remove empty lines” beforehand so nobody gets two entries and there are no gaps.
The shuffle runs in your browser using the Fisher–Yates algorithm and nothing is sent to a server. It relies on the browser’s random number generator (Math.random), which is fine for informal draws but not certifiable: for competitions with legal requirements or valuable prizes, use an independently verified method.

Can I use it for a giveaway draw?
Yes, for informal draws: paste the entrants, shuffle and take the top lines. For promotions with formal terms and conditions, use a method that third parties can verify.
Is every order equally likely?
Yes. The Fisher–Yates algorithm gives every possible arrangement of the list the same probability.
Can I shuffle again?
Yes, each click reshuffles the current result. Ctrl+Z takes you back to the previous order.
How do I split a shuffled list into teams?
Shuffle the list, then cut it into blocks of the size you need: the first five lines are team 1, the next five team 2, and so on.
