About this tool
Sometimes you need your SVG as an ordinary image: for an app that only takes bitmaps, a favicon in ICO format, a video thumbnail or an email where the vector will not display. This tool rasterises the SVG and saves it in the format you pick, from PNG with transparency to lightweight WEBP for the web or BMP for legacy software.
Drop your SVG files onto the upload area; PNG is selected, but you can choose any other format under “Convert to” and fine-tune its options. To set the resolution, go to “Resize” → “Dimensions” and enter the width in pixels, or use “Scale” to multiply the SVG’s size. Press the convert button and download the files, or the ZIP if there are several.
The artwork is processed in your browser and not uploaded. If the SVG has no width or height, its viewBox is used and small icons are scaled up to 1024 px. External images or fonts linked in the SVG are not loaded, and CSS or SMIL animations are frozen in their first state. If you want to go the other way, from image to SVG, use the image tracer.
Frequently asked questions
Which formats can I convert an SVG to?
PNG, JPEG, WEBP, JXL, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO and ICNS. PNG and WEBP keep transparency; JPEG fills it with a background colour.
What size will the image be?
By default, the width and height declared in the SVG or, failing that, its viewBox (scaled up to 1024 px if it is icon-sized). You can set any other size under “Resize”.
Does rasterising an SVG lose quality?
The result is rendered at the resolution you choose, so it looks sharp at that size. What you lose is the ability to enlarge it later without pixelation.
Does it work with animated SVGs?
The first state of the animation is converted as a still image. None of this tool’s output formats store animation.
