About this tool
A favicon is the tiny icon shown in browser tabs, bookmarks, phone home-screen shortcuts and some Google results. Each of those places wants a different size, so preparing them by hand takes a while. This tool starts from your logo or any image and produces 16, 32, 48, 64, 128, 180, 192 and 512 px versions in one go.
Drop the image onto the box, click to choose it or paste it from the clipboard. The favicons are generated straight away and listed with their size and purpose (Apple Touch, Android, PWA). Click any row to download that PNG, use “Download all” to save every size, or “Download .ico” for a favicon.ico containing the small sizes. Below the list you will find the HTML to paste into your <head>.
Everything is processed in your browser on a canvas; the image is never uploaded to a server. It accepts PNG, JPG, SVG, WebP and any other format your browser can display. Non-square images are centre-cropped, so a square logo with a little breathing room works best. The tool does not create a manifest.json file, and it does not change colours or backgrounds.
Frequently asked questions
Which favicon sizes does a website need today?
32×32 for tabs, 180×180 for iPhone and iPad (apple-touch-icon), and 192×192 plus 512×512 for Android and PWAs cover almost every case. A favicon.ico with 16 to 64 px images is still handy for older browsers and tools that look for it at the root.
Where do I put the favicon files?
Upload them to your site’s root (or any folder you like) and paste the HTML snippet from the tool inside your <head>, adjusting the paths if you store them elsewhere. The favicon.ico is usually left at the root of the domain.
Why isn’t my new favicon showing up?
Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Try a hard reload, open the site in a private window or add a query string to the path, such as favicon-32x32.png?v=2.
Can I use a rectangular logo?
Yes, but a centred square will be cropped out and the sides will be lost. For best results use the square version or symbol of your brand, with bold shapes that still read at 16 px.
