About this tool
Cut an image into a grid of equally sized tiles. It is the quickest way to prepare a panoramic Instagram carousel, a 3 × 3 profile mosaic, jigsaw pieces, a poster to print across several sheets or frames from a sprite sheet. Every tile is saved as its own PNG file.
Drop the image in, choose it or paste it from the clipboard. Set how many “Columns” and “Rows” you want, from 1 to 20; dashed cut lines appear over the preview, alongside the size of each tile in pixels and the total count. Press “Split image” and the tiles appear: click one to download it, or use “Download all”.
The cutting happens in your browser and the image is never uploaded. It accepts any format your browser can open (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF…), and tiles are always exported as PNG. If the width or height does not divide exactly, the leftover pixels at the edge are dropped. “Download all” saves separate files, not a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a photo for an Instagram carousel?
Set 1 row and as many columns as slides, say 3. For square slides, the image should be three times as wide as it is tall (for example 3240 × 1080 px).
How are the tiles named?
Each file keeps the original name followed by its row and column, such as photo-1-2.png, so they sort themselves in your folder.
Does splitting reduce image quality?
There is no lossy recompression: tiles are saved as PNG at the original resolution. If you start from a JPG the PNGs will be larger, but they will look the same.
Can I cut tiles of different sizes?
No, this tool makes a regular grid. To cut out one specific area, use an image cropper instead.
