About this tool
PNGs exported from design software, icon generators or background-removal tools often carry lots of transparent space around the artwork. That invisible margin throws logos off-centre on a website, makes icons look smaller than they are and makes alignment fiddly. This tool strips it away and leaves the image cropped tightly to its content.
Drop a PNG onto the upload area, click to choose one or paste it from the clipboard. Trimming is automatic: you will see the dimensions before and after, and how many pixels were removed from the top, right, bottom and left, on a chequered background that reveals the transparency. Press “Download PNG” to save the result or “Clear” to start again with another image.
The image is processed in your browser and never uploaded to a server. It accepts PNG only, one file at a time, and trims pixels that are fully transparent: a soft shadow or a nearly invisible glow counts as content and is kept. It does not remove solid-colour backgrounds such as white; for that you first need a background-removal tool.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly does this tool do?
It finds the smallest rectangle that contains every non-transparent pixel and crops away everything outside it. You get the same artwork without empty margins.
Can it trim a white background?
No. It only removes transparent areas. If your image has a white or coloured background, you will need to remove it or make it transparent with another tool first.
Why was nothing trimmed?
Because there is a pixel with some opacity near the edge, such as a soft shadow or leftovers from a badly erased background. The tool tells you when the image is already at its minimum size.
Is quality lost when trimming?
No. The remaining pixels are copied exactly and the result is saved as a lossless PNG.
